Sustainable forest management requires cooperation across many sectors so that sound policies are not undermined by shifts in macroeconomic policy or other areas. PROFOR’s analysis identifies trade-offs as well as win-win situations where healthy forests can generate local and global goods. By partnering with specialists in other fields to identify solutions together, PROFOR encourages innovation and forest-based solutions in non-traditional sectors. For greater efficiency and focus, PROFOR is clustering its analytical work around a few key sectors, including energy, jobs, poverty reduction, sustainable supply chains, disaster risk management, mining, land use, and landscape governance.
