Original country studies have been developed to explore the different pathways to prosperity in line with the PRIME framework, such as
-
Availability of forests to support food/fuel/medical and water needs (subsistence) and to cope with natural or economic disasters (safety nets);
-
Asset accumulation by control over the sale of timber, NTFP, carbon, better forest management and income increases that may emerge from forest related jobs (tourism, forest department, etc.);
-
Community coordination (to reduce forest fires, to increase ‘sustainable’ extraction, and ensure the very poor have a voice);
-
Drivers outside forests such as urban jobs, migration, that strengthen human capital and remittances; and
-
Capacity building and new technology (improved stoves that reduce indoor air pollution and fuel use, solar electricity, weather information).
