Rio+20: Dialogues and Forest events
While PROFOR will have no presence at the Rio+20 UN conference in June, we wanted to bring the following events to your attention:
- Rio+20 Dialogues: This online forum, the initiative of the Government of Brazil, is already open to the public. Sign up to add your voice and perspective on a range of issues including forests.
- CIFOR is organizing an afternoon devoted to forests on June 19, 2012: Forests: the 8th Roundtable. The event will cover new research findings and remaining knowledge gaps and their policy implications for integrating forests into the solutions to four key challenges to progress toward a green economy: energy, food and income, water, and climate.
- IIED is hosting an information sharing event called Fair Ideas on June 16-17, 2012, which will include a session on 'Investing in locally controlled farm-forestry - a firm foundation for fair green economies'
- FAO is hosting a side event on Forests: The Heart of a Green Economy on June 18, 2012. The side event will "highlight the role of forests and industry in fostering local livelihoods at the resource base and enabling product transitions to low-carbon bio-economy among consumers."
